You can take any prepared ketchup, whether bottled or homemade, and easily turn it into a flavour-packed specialty condiment. AND SOOOOO MUCH HEALTHY TOO!

Ingredients

  • BASE INGREDIENTS:
  • 1-2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 3 dates
  • Water or lemon juice (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients in your food processor or blender until smooth, adding liquid as needed.
  2. Adjust according to taste.
  3. Serve the burgers, home-made chips and sauce with lettuce, tomatoes, marinated mushrooms, onions, sprouts, avocado, and anything else you like. Enjoy!
  4. TRY CHANGING YOUR SAUCE UP A BIT!!!!
  5. CHINESE FLAVOUR SAUCE:
  6. To give your ketchup a Chinese flavor, add 2 teaspoons of Chinese 5-spice powder, 1 Tbs. soy sauce, the juice of a lime and a pinch of black pepper to one cup of ketchup.
  7. MEXICAN FLAVOUR SAUCE:
  8. Add some bold Mexican flavours to one cup of ketchup by adding 1 teaspoon each of ground cumin, ground coriander and chilly powder, the juice of a lime and a tablespoon of chopped fresh cilantro. .
  9. CREAMY FLAVOURED SAUCE:
  10. Crispy fries taste great with creamy curry-flavoured ketchup. Just add 1 Tbs. curry powder and ¼ cup non-dairy yogurt to one cup of ketchup.
  11. SPICY FLAVOURED SAUCE:
  12. To make spicy Jerk ketchup, add 2 Tbs. jerk seasoning, the juice of a lime and 1 Tbs. pineapple juice to one cup of ketchup. If you want chunkier ketchup, use chopped fresh pineapple instead of the juice.
